Frequently Asked Questions

When can I have my espresso machine?

We have the engineers & equipment ready to go, so once we have received the completed paperwork, site ready form & deposit payment we can usually install within a few days.

Is there anything I need to pay upfront?

Yes we require a deposit payment before we arrange your installation.  The deposit amount is the equivalent of 1 month’s rental so it depends on the equipment you choose and the length of the rental agreement.  The deposit is refundable once we receive the equipment back.

What happens if I choose the wrong machine for my business?

We appreciate it can be difficult to predict coffee sales for new businesses so we allow 1 espresso machine change during the agreement.  This is available on 2 and 3 year agreements only.  Grinders are easily changed so we can change these, add and remove them as required on all rental agreements.

How long will the installation take?

This is a difficult question to answer.  The average is approximately 2 hours but it depends on the site and access circumstances.

What else do I need to serve coffee?

As well as the espresso machine & grinder we include a tub of cleaning powder, group brush & the tamper.  All you need is the milk jugs which you can buy from us or find elsewhere online.  Oh and the coffee!

Do we have to use your coffee if we rent your equipment?

We do not sell coffee, you are welcome to use any coffee with our equipment.

How long does it take for an engineer to arrive if we have a breakdown?

If it’s an emergency then we are usually on-site within a couple of hours – It’s an emergency if you can’t serve coffee, or if your ability to serve coffee is significantly affected.  If the problem is minor and does not significantly affect your service we may ask if it’s ok to arrive the next day or on the Monday if you call us on the weekend.

What are your opening hours?

Our office hours are 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.  Our engineering services run from 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays & Sundays.  We are closed on Bank Holidays.

How do I keep my machine in top condition?

There are daily & weekly cleaning routines that you should follow to make sure your machine keeps running well and producing delicious coffee.  Please use this link to see our ‘How to back flush your coffee machine’ video.

Can I use my own grinder?

Yes you can use your own grinder but it will not be covered by our all-in (full care) engineering service.  Many problems are grinder related so it makes sense to rent the grinder from us.  If your grinder stops working you can’t serve coffee!

What cups are best for serving coffee?

For serving speciality coffee, the widely agreed cup sizes are:

GramsOunces
Espresso80g2-3
Flat White150g5-6
Cappucino200g8
Latte300g10-12

If you want to serve a darker roast coffee then the cup sizes are generally bigger than these sizes.

Cup size, shape and material are very important.  Please use this link for more information.

How do I prepare my café/restaurant… for the equipment?

Once you have chosen the equipment we will send you a site ready form which includes all of the information you will need.  It includes the specifications for the electrical supply, water supply and drain required as well as the dimensions & weight of the machine.  It also explains about the hole that needs to be drilled into your counter for the pipes and cables that come out of the bottom of the espresso machine.

What locations do you cover?

The simple answer is London and the South East, specifically our area is based on travel time – 2 hours from our workshop in West Molesey, Surrey.  This is because we need to be on-site within a couple of hours when you need us.  If you are unsure or think you may be slightly out of our area please give us a call as we may still be able to help you.

How long are your rental agreements?

We offer 1, 2 & 3 year rental agreements.  This is to give you the confidence to work with us no matter what your situation may be.  The length chosen is just the initial period, you can keep the machine as long as you need it, when it needs replacing we will bring you a new one with minimal disruption.

How do I pay?

Rental payments are taken on the 28th day of each month by direct debit, so you do not need to do anything apart from make sure the money is in your account.  The payments are taken in arrears – for example, December rental charges are taken on the 28th of December.  This means all we need to get you serving coffee is the deposit payment.  It also helps you with your cash flow each and every month.
